Sync is a daily planner that keeps your plans and your actual records on your device. It has no accounts, no servers, no analytics, and no advertising. This page explains exactly what the app touches and where it goes. It covers Sync for iPhone and iPad, Sync for Mac, and Sync for Android.
Everything you enter — plans, actual records, activities, goals, to-dos, notes, templates — is stored on your device. If you turn on iCloud sync on your Apple devices (section 4), the same records are also kept in your own private iCloud database. Sync does not operate a server and never transmits your records to us or to anyone else.
On iPhone and iPad, if you turn on Settings › Integrations › Connect Apple Health, Sync reads workouts, sleep, and step count from the Health app. Workouts and sleep appear on your actual track; step count appears in the day summary. Health values — step counts, sleep totals and the contents of Health samples — stay on the device. They are never uploaded, never shared, and never included in the iCloud backup or iCloud sync. When iCloud sync is on, a workout, sleep or mindfulness session that Sync turned into a record on your actual track syncs only as that record (its start time, end time and activity), like any record you enter yourself. Sync does not write to Health. You can revoke access at any time in the iOS Settings app. Sync for Mac has no Health integration.
If you turn on Show calendar events, Sync reads your calendar events to display them beneath the plan track. Sync does not modify your calendars.
If you turn on Sync with Reminders, Sync reads and writes a single Reminders list named "Sync" to mirror your to-dos. Other lists are not read.
Reminders for plans and to-dos are scheduled locally on your device. No push server is involved.
When iCloud backup is on (Settings › Data), Sync periodically writes a backup file of your own records to the Sync folder in your iCloud Drive. This file lives in your personal iCloud account under Apple's terms; we have no access to it. Health-derived records are excluded from the file. You can turn the backup off or delete the file from the Files app at any time.
iCloud sync is off by default. When you turn it on (Settings › Data › iCloud sync), Sync keeps your records in your own private iCloud database (Apple CloudKit), so the same records appear on your iPhone, iPad and Mac signed in to the same Apple Account. This database belongs to your iCloud account under Apple's terms; we cannot see or access it, and there is no server of ours in between. Health values are not synced (see Health above). You can turn iCloud sync off at any time; to remove the synced copy, delete Sync's data in your Apple Account's iCloud storage settings. Sync for Android does not use iCloud.
Deleting the app deletes all records stored on the device. If you used iCloud backup, also delete the file in iCloud Drive › Sync. If you used iCloud sync, also delete Sync's data in your iCloud storage settings. Individual records can be deleted inside the app at any time.
Sync is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them. Because Sync collects no personal information, there is nothing to request or erase; contact us if you have concerns.
Everything in sections 1, 5, 6 (except what they say about iCloud — see "Android backup" below) and 7 applies to Sync for Android as well: your records are stored on your phone, Sync has no servers, no account, no analytics, no crash reporting, no ads and no tracking, and it does not share data with anyone. Sync for Android does not request internet access. Your data leaves your phone only through Android backup and through files you export yourself, both described below.
If you turn on Settings › Integrations › Connect Health Connect, Sync asks Health Connect for permission to read exercise sessions, sleep sessions, mindfulness sessions and step counts. Sync uses them only to place your workouts, sleep and mindfulness sessions on your actual track and to show the day's steps and sleep time in your day review. Sync never writes to Health Connect, does not read in the background, and does not read data older than Health Connect allows by default. Data read from Health Connect is kept on your phone, is never sent to us or anyone else, is not used for advertising, and is always left out of Android backup. It leaves your phone only if you export or share a file of your records yourself (Settings › Export or Share file): an exported file includes the workouts, sleep and mindfulness sessions and daily numbers that came from Health Connect, so that you can move them to another device. You can revoke access at any time in Health Connect; records already placed stay until you delete them.
If you turn on Settings › Integrations › Show calendar events, Sync reads events from the calendars on your phone (including Google and other accounts you added in Android settings) to show them next to your plan. Sync never adds, changes or deletes calendar events. You choose which calendars appear. Calendar events, and the event titles Sync remembers to suggest an activity, stay on this phone: they are not included in Android backup or in exported files, except for events you choose to add to Sync (as a plan, an actual or an all-day event), which become your own records.
Plan reminders and the timer are scheduled on your phone. Nothing goes through a push server.
Android's own backup service (when backup is turned on for your phone and Google account) copies two things from Sync to your Google account under Google's terms: Sync's general settings (such as day start time, week start and notification defaults), and — only while Automatic backup is on in Sync — one file of your records. The records file holds your plans, actuals, notes, to-dos, goals, repeats, events you entered in Sync, templates and activity settings. It never includes anything read from Health Connect, and the backup never includes your phone calendar's events or event titles, or which calendars and permissions are enabled on this phone. The backup is made by Android, not by us — we never receive it. Turning off Automatic backup in Sync deletes the records file from your phone, so it is no longer backed up; to stop the settings backup too, turn off backup for your Google account in Android settings. Deleting the app deletes the backup file from your phone; to remove the copy in your Google account, use your Google account's backup settings.
You can export your records as a file (Settings › Export or Share file) and import a file exported from Sync on another device. An exported file contains your records, including those that came from Health Connect. It goes only where you choose to save or share it; Sync never sends it anywhere on its own.
If this policy changes, the effective date above will be updated and the new version published at this address.
